- The Murphysboro Middle School Symphonic Band competed Saturday at Marion Junior High School in the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Organization Contest. The band received the highest rating possible of First Superior. We were one of only two schools to receive this rating from all three judges. Congratulations to all MMS band students on a GREAT PERFORMANCE!!
- The Murphysboro Middle School Music Department competed in the Illinois Grade School Music Association's District 3-West Solo & Ensemble Contest held at Sparta Lincoln Middle School, on March 8th, 2008. Murphysboro had 104 entries in the contest and received: 5 Division First Superior ratings; 85 Division I ratings; and 8 Division II ratings. The Murphysboro Middle School Jazz Ensemble was one point away from a First Superior. Congratulations to all MMS music students on a very successful contest!!!
